The Right Place at the Right Time

We saw tremendous success at SPS in Nuremberg, Germany. There, at the largest international trade show for electrical automation technology, we were able to generate many more new contacts as well as more leads than in years past.

We presented our new generation of servo planetary gear units for the first time on the 115 square-meter area. These gear units are the most compact on the market in their power range and with their diversity of combinations and options. We also focused on our digital services. The new planetary geared motors are also equipped with our STOBER product ID card, which makes it easier for our customers to order replacement parts, for example.

The user can scan the QR code, included on the product ID card, with their smartphone or tablet and receive all the important associated technical information. Our digital services also include our STOBER Configurator, which generated significant interest at SPS. This online tool enables the user to put together a suitable drive solution from the extensive STOBER product portfolio intuitively with just a few clicks.

We demonstrated our automation strength at the exhibition booth using an individually designed SCARA robot. We controlled the robot axes centrally using our STOBER MC6 motion controller over EtherCAT.

In the area of safety technology, STOBER has been successfully working with Pilz GmbH & Co. KG for years. To demonstrate flexible machine protection, we presented a model with a spindle motor and sensor cell equipped with a light barrier.

Visitors were also able to learn about our sensorless Lean Motor at the exhibition booth and familiarize themselves with its advantages. The motor is significantly lighter and smaller than an asynchronous drive with the same output and is more cost-efficient and more rugged than a servo drive.
