Heike Grun

Which areas do you oversee?

I’m responsible for our industrial clerks and for the overall apprenticeship program at STOBER.

Why did you become a trainer?

My work as a trainer is characterized by great variety and daily challenges, which makes it incredibly exciting. Especially at the beginning of their careers, young people need extra support. It’s truly rewarding to witness their professional and personal growth along the way.

What is your goal as a trainer?

My goal is to provide our apprentices with comprehensive expertise and key skills from all relevant areas – knowledge that will be valuable for their future and for STOBER. It’s important to me that our apprentices feel comfortable with us and that, after completing their training, they choose to become part of our company.

Why do you enjoy working with apprentices?

Being a trainer means constantly staying up to date in your field. New projects, new developments, and changes in regulations ensure that things never get boring. I also truly enjoy being there for my apprentices and always having an open ear for their questions and concerns.

What’s your personal recipe for success?

I continuously strive to expand my knowledge. For me, it’s important to question established practices, contribute new ideas, and always remain open to change.

What advice would you give to young people starting their careers?

Choose a profession that genuinely excites you. To find out what that might be, take advantage of internship opportunities – even during school holidays!

During your apprenticeship, ask as many questions as you can and don’t be afraid of making mistakes. Every mistake is a chance to learn from it. Be proactive and take an active role in shaping your own training. As the saying goes:

“Those who move through life with open eyes and ears will always find new reasons to be amazed.”

Vadim Schlegel

Which areas do you oversee?

I work as a design engineer in the Gear Development Department, supporting the Sales and Service departments with the SAP variant configurator. I’m also responsible for CAD and PDM systems and oversee apprentices and interns in Design & Development.

Why did you become a trainer?

I enjoy passing on knowledge and experience to younger generations. You also continue learning yourself throughout the training process.

What is your goal as a trainer?

My goal is to prepare apprentices both professionally and personally for their future careers. I want to encourage them to think independently and, above all, critically – to question things in order to better understand processes, workflows, and connections, and to bring in their own ideas where possible.

What’s your personal recipe for success?

Straightforward and direct communication. I try to share all my knowledge and experience as much as time allows.

What advice would you give to young people starting their careers?

The beginning is never easy – that’s what trainers are there for, to support you. Don’t hesitate to ask questions. It’s the best way to reach your goals faster and learn things more effectively.

Marvin Seifert

Which areas do you oversee?

I work in Product Management as a Strategic Product Manager and therefore oversee the entire product portfolio of STOBER.

Why did you become a trainer?

I was a dual student at STOBER myself and found the three years to be highly educational and diverse. I had the opportunity to work in many exciting departments with motivating mentors – experiences I now want to pass on to others.

What is your goal as a trainer?

To prepare young people for a successful start to their professional careers.

Which values and skills do you want to impart to students?

Take responsibility, communicate openly, and think proactively. The technical knowledge will come with time – what really matters is your attitude.

If you could start over today, what would you do differently?

Not much, I think – every experience helps you grow, and that’s why it’s important to make them. The study and training period is also crucial for personal development.

What advice would you give to young people starting their careers?

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself and don’t be afraid to ask questions – everything else will fall into place.

Matthias Süß

Which areas do you oversee?

I’m responsible for the “Applied Computer Science” degree program at the Cooperative State University Karlsruhe.

I chose to become a trainer because I enjoy working with people and want to make it easier for them to enter the world of computer science. I take great pleasure in sharing my knowledge and experience and in actively supporting the students’ development.

My goal is to guide students through their studies in the best possible way and prepare them specifically for their future roles in IT and computer science. I care deeply not only about their technical progress but also about their personal growth.

I especially value working with apprentices because they are motivated, curious, and open to new things. It’s fascinating to see how they develop and acquire new skills. At the same time, interacting with them often inspires me with new ideas and perspectives.

What’s your personal recipe for success?

My recipe for success is based on diverse, hands-on tasks and the use of modern technologies. Open and equal communication is especially important to me, as it creates a learning environment where everyone can grow.

This requires close coordination within the team as well as cross-departmental collaboration with Purchasing, Production, and Assembly.

Working with young people is refreshing. They bring different perspectives and approaches to solving problems, which often leads to new and creative ideas.

What’s your personal recipe for success?

Openness, honesty, and communication – along with strong teamwork – are essential.

What advice would you give to young people starting their careers?

Be aware that you may be working in your chosen profession for several decades. That’s why it’s crucial to pick a job that’s both enjoyable and challenging. If you’re unsure, take the time to do one or more internships beforehand.
